summer break

So, John graduated and is now in Chicago looking for a full-time job. I went back with him and visited his family for a week. I left my digital camera at home for that. I just brought my film slr and a couple rolls of film. I needed a break.
So I went to Chicago. And we drove up to Milwaukee a couple times, where I learned the real way to eat ice cream --excuse me-- custard, went to the Zoo and the Milwaukee Art Museum. We spent a day having fun with the middle schoolers at Six Flags, and I even got a $12 soda. Awesome. Went to Ikea, spent some time in downtown Chicago. It was nice to be in a real city again...
And then I took the train back to Rochester overnight, and had to get back to sort-of real life. Laundry, rent, cleaning, etc.

Let's see. I painted my room. The picture above is the old color, which was quickly vanquished. I painted it a dark gray/brown color-- needed something a little more neutral for working on photos at home. The green was driving me nuts.
I rearranged my room and realized I have a lot more floorspace when I turn my bed the other way.
I think I've ridden my bike at least 40 miles this week and I feel pretty good. I might go for a jog in a bit. A few friends and I have this mild ambition to ride our bikes to NYC at the end of the summer.
And on Monday I start my Advertising photo class, which I'll be shooting 4x5 for apparently. I'm really worried about surviving this summer financially and getting through these classes, but I just have to do it.

Schedule for next fall:
PJ1: Photo as Narrative
Ethics & Photojournalism
Editorial Photo Project
PJ class trip to Washington, DC
Career Seminar
Newswriting

Sweet.
