New York

I made it into Rochester this morning. Believe it or not, my train was actually early. I left Tuesday night out of Kingman, woke up Thursday morning in Kansas, and got into Chicago around 4:00, where I had a long layover. I checked my bags to Rochester at Union Station and then went out in search of food. And then just wandered around the city taking pictures.

Then it started to rain, so I went back to the station in time to relax for a bit and then board my next train.

So I've just been spending the day unpacking my suitcases and getting my new room organized. I went out to do some grocery shopping and to buy a few things I wasn't able to take with me. Tomorrow I'm going to find my way down to the RIT campus and attempt to locate all my classes, check out the library, apply for jobs, etc.

It really is quite beautiful here. All the pine trees remind me of being in Seattle and everywhere you go you see deer walking around, and there are lots of geese right now. And the thought of curling up in some sweatpants with a good book and hot chocolate, watching the snow come down in torrents just sounds delicious at the moment. I have a feeling I'm going to get sick of the snow once I have to walk through it everyday though.

I'm just ready for classes to start now. I'm already getting a wee bit lonely up here.
